How It All Began
Although the true founder of “Daily Mustard Seed” is undoubtedly God Himself, He entrusted the creation and leadership of this ministry to Mārtiņš Donga. It all began as a Latvian translation of Joel Osteen’s daily devotionals, but in 2021, God gave Mārtiņš the grace to begin writing the “Daily Mustard Seed” reflections himself.
As Mārtiņš often says: “I am not a writer — I simply wrote it down.”
About the Author
Mārtiņš Donga is a loving husband and father of three, a Christian with a living and practical faith, and the author, servant and content creator behind “Daily Mustard Seed”.
He carries a deep calling to help others come to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour, Lord and closest friend — the One who is always present and ready to help in the everyday moments of life.

In 2024, the first Latvian book “Sinepju graudiņš. Vārds katrai dienai” (“Mustard Seed. The Word for Every Day”) was published. Importantly, it contains no dates — only “days” — reminding us that God created the world in seven days and that, in truth, all we truly have is this day.
In the autumn of 2025, the book became a bestseller in Latvia’s largest secular bookshop chain, “Jānis Roze”. Later the same year, the English edition “Daily Mustard Seed. The Word for Every Day” was released and is available on Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com and in “Jānis Roze” bookstores.
People Without Whom This Would Not Have Been Possible
Nothing would have begun without Jānis Vekmanis and Kristīne Briede. They are often called the “father and mother” of “Daily Mustard Seed” — it was Kristīne’s translated devotionals and Jānis’s daily distribution of them that inspired Mārtiņš, on 13 January 2019, to create the first WhatsApp group called “Sinepju graudiņš”.
From that moment until today, “Daily Mustard Seed” has grown and developed thanks to many dedicated volunteers who serve with their gifts. Their contribution to translation, visual design and imagery, YouTube audio recordings, book production, website development and the sharing of the message has been invaluable. Each one has helped this little seed reach more and more people every day.
